Heat wave for hand pain? study tests new relief for arthritis

Summary

This study is testing whether a deep-heat therapy called short wave diathermy can help people with hand osteoarthritis. It will compare the therapy plus hand exercises against sham (fake) therapy plus exercises in 36 participants. The main goal is to see if the treatment reduces pain and improves grip strength and hand function over 12 weeks.
