Could 5 days of antibiotics be enough for kids with pneumonia?
NCT ID NCT06494072
First seen Mar 04, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study compares a 5-day course of antibiotics to the usual 7-14 day course for children aged 3 months to 18 years hospitalized with uncomplicated pneumonia. The goal is to see if the shorter treatment is just as effective and causes fewer side effects. About 236 children will be randomly assigned to either the short or standard treatment, and researchers will follow up to check for treatment success and any adverse reactions.
