First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests if a special shockwave device, which uses sound waves to break up artery plaque, works as well as surgery for people with severely blocked leg arteries. About 60 adults with painful leg symptoms will be randomly assigned to get either the shockwave treatment or surgery. The goal is to see if the shockwave approach is a safe and effective alternative to the standard operation.
