Shockwaves used to crack open hardened leg arteries
NCT ID NCT05291247
Summary
This study tested a two-step procedure for people with severely hardened and blocked leg arteries. First, a special shockwave device was used to crack the hard calcium deposits inside the artery. Then, a drug-coated mesh tube (stent) was placed to prop the artery open. The goal was to see if this combination was safe and kept the artery open for a year, improving blood flow and reducing leg pain.
