Shockwaves vs. hardened heart arteries: new study aims to crack the code

Summary
This study is testing if using a special shockwave device to break up hard calcium deposits in heart arteries before placing a stent is better than other preparation methods. It will involve about 666 adults with severely hardened heart arteries. The main goal is to see if this approach leads to fewer future heart attacks, strokes, or the need for more procedures compared to standard techniques.
