Shockwave balloon tested to save limbs from amputation

NCT ID NCT05755412

Summary

This study aimed to see if a special balloon catheter that uses sound waves (shockwave) is safe and effective for opening severely hardened and blocked arteries below the knee in patients with critical limb ischemia, a condition that can lead to amputation. The study planned to observe 9 patients who received this treatment as part of their standard care and track their outcomes for up to 12 months. It was an observational study, meaning no extra tests were done beyond normal medical care.
