Shock waves target knee pain: can new therapy ease arthritis?

NCT ID NCT06281444

Summary

This study tested whether adding a therapy called radial extracorporeal shock wave treatment (ESWT) to standard knee exercises helps people with knee osteoarthritis. 72 participants, aged 50-85, were randomly assigned to receive either the real shock wave therapy or a sham (fake) treatment, along with exercises. Researchers measured changes in pain, knee function, and how far people could walk to see if the shock waves provided extra benefit.
