Summary

This study tested whether choosing cancer drugs based on the genetic profile of a patient's tumor could work better than standard chemotherapy. 742 adults with advanced solid tumors that had stopped responding to treatment were randomly assigned to either a targeted therapy matched to their tumor's molecular abnormalities or the doctor's choice of conventional therapy. The main goal was to see if the personalized approach could slow cancer growth longer, but the trial found no significant improvement in progression-free survival.
