Nerve block injection tested to stop shingles pain from becoming permanent

NCT ID NCT07349680

Summary

This study tested if a targeted nerve block injection could better control shingles pain and prevent it from turning into a long-term condition. It involved 100 adults with recent, painful shingles on their chest. Half received standard pain medication, while the other half also received ultrasound-guided injections of numbing medicine and steroid near the spine.
