Night-Shift workers test gut bug combo to beat prediabetes
NCT ID NCT07440147
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tests whether a supplement containing a beneficial gut bacterium (Akkermansia muciniphila) and a plant compound (berberine) can improve how night-shift workers process sugar. Two hundred healthcare and industrial workers will take either the supplement or a placebo for 12 weeks, then switch after a break. The goal is to see if this combination can reduce insulin resistance, a key risk factor for diabetes.
