Ancient touch meets modern trial: can shiatsu ease debilitating arthritis fatigue?

NCT ID NCT05433168

Summary

This study tested whether shiatsu, a form of Japanese massage, could help reduce the severe fatigue often experienced by people with axial spondyloarthritis, a chronic inflammatory arthritis. Seventy-two adult patients received three sessions of real shiatsu and three sessions of a sham (fake) treatment to compare the effects. The main goal was to see if the real shiatsu led to a meaningful improvement in participants' self-reported fatigue levels.
