First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tests whether affordable home improvements like shade, reflective roof paint, and better airflow, along with practical heat-safety advice, can reduce heat-related health problems and improve quality of life. Over 7,000 people in rural Pakistani villages will participate, with some homes receiving the interventions and others serving as a comparison group. Researchers will track heat illness, indoor temperatures, sleep, and daily well-being to find effective strategies for vulnerable communities.
