Can common diabetes pills protect the heart?
NCT ID NCT07186153
Summary
This study aims to understand if a class of diabetes medications called SGLT2 inhibitors can improve early signs of heart strain in people with type 2 diabetes. Researchers will use detailed heart ultrasound scans to measure changes in the left atrium (a heart chamber) in 100 participants before starting the drug and again after 6 months of treatment. The goal is to gather knowledge about how these drugs might benefit heart health beyond just lowering blood sugar.
