Study: surgical abortion may harm sexual function more than medical abortion
NCT ID NCT07646275
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study followed 86 women who had an early pregnancy loss (6-12 weeks) and chose either surgical or medical abortion. Researchers measured sexual function before the procedure and again 6 months later using a standard questionnaire. The surgical group showed a significant decline in sexual function, while the medical group did not. Because the study did not randomly assign treatments, these results are considered preliminary and need further confirmation.
