First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study tests whether giving a whole blood transfusion to children under 5 with severe malaria and very low platelet counts can improve their chances of survival. The trial involves 132 children in areas where malaria is common. Researchers will compare death rates and changes in blood counts between those who receive a transfusion and those who do not.
