Summary

This study tests whether giving a whole blood transfusion can help children under 5 years old with severe malaria and very low platelet counts survive. About 132 children will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care plus a transfusion or standard care alone. The main goal is to see if transfusions reduce deaths.
