Summary
This study tested a drug called sevelamer carbonate in 98 people with chronic kidney disease (stages 3b-4) who were not yet on dialysis. The goal was to see if the drug could lower a blood marker called FGF-23, which is linked to bone and heart problems. Participants took either the drug or a placebo, and researchers measured changes in FGF-23 and other mineral-related substances over time.
