Simple Finger-Press test could help predict survival in deadly infection

NCT ID NCT06727318

Summary

This study aimed to see if a simple bedside check of blood flow in the skin (like pressing a fingernail and timing how fast color returns) is as good as or better than a standard blood test (lactate level) at predicting how patients with septic shock will fare. Researchers observed 192 adult patients in intensive care with this life-threatening condition, recording both measurements repeatedly over 24 hours. The goal was to find which method better forecasts disease progression and the risk of death within 28 days.
