Simple blood test could help monitor critically ill patients

NCT ID NCT07412366

Summary

This study aims to see if a simple ratio from two common blood tests (urea and creatinine) can track the body's metabolism in patients with septic shock, a severe and life-threatening infection. Researchers will compare this simple ratio to a more complex, specialized machine that is the current best way to measure metabolism. The goal is to find a more widely available tool to help guide nutrition and care for these critically ill patients.
