Can a quick math check in the ER save lives from sepsis?
NCT ID NCT07479563
Summary
This study aims to see if a simple calculation using heart rate and blood pressure, called the Modified Shock Index, can help doctors better predict how sick a sepsis patient will become. Researchers will enroll 70 adults arriving at the emergency department with sepsis to test this tool. The goal is to see if this quick calculation can forecast which patients are most at risk of needing intensive care, life support, or have a longer hospital stay.
