Scientists track sepsis Survivors' immune systems for clues to Long-Term health risks

NCT ID NCT07418801

Summary

This study aims to understand how sepsis (a severe body-wide infection) changes the immune system's activity over time. Researchers will track 290 ICU patients—including 200 with sepsis, 50 critically ill without infection, and 40 healthy controls—for up to one year. By analyzing blood samples at multiple time points, they hope to identify patterns in immune cell behavior that might explain why some sepsis survivors face ongoing health problems.
