Hospitals test new early warning system to catch sepsis before it strikes
NCT ID NCT06779617
Summary
This study is testing two new computer-generated risk scores designed to give doctors an early warning. One score predicts a patient's risk of developing sepsis in the next four hours, and the other predicts their risk of serious deterioration. The goal is to see if providing these scores to hospital staff makes them check on high-risk patients faster, which could lead to earlier treatment. The study will involve about 150,000 adult patients across several University of Maryland hospitals.
