Blood test clues for deadly infection

NCT ID NCT03929159

Summary

This study aims to understand if tiny molecules in the blood, called miRNAs, change when a person has sepsis (a severe bloodstream infection) or after major surgery. Researchers are collecting blood samples from 150 people who either have sepsis or are having surgery to see if these miRNA patterns can help tell sepsis apart from other conditions and predict patient outcomes. The goal is to gather knowledge that could lead to better diagnosis in the future.
