New blood markers could improve sepsis monitoring in ICU patients

NCT ID NCT07537179

First seen Apr 20, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looked at 120 ICU patients to see if newer blood markers—like monocyte distribution, monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio—can help doctors detect and track sepsis better than standard tests. Researchers measured these markers every 48 hours from diagnosis until recovery or discharge. The goal was to find useful cutoff values for these markers, not to test a treatment.
