New surgical strategy aims to spare stomach function in cancer patients

NCT ID NCT06788548

Summary

This study is testing a more precise surgical technique for early stomach cancer. It uses a fluorescent dye during surgery to identify and remove only the key lymph nodes that cancer might spread to, instead of removing many lymph nodes by default. The goal is to preserve more of the healthy stomach, potentially leading to better digestion and quality of life after surgery, while still effectively treating the cancer.
