Ultrasound could make surgery safer for millions on Weight-Loss drugs

NCT ID NCT06420739

Summary

This study aims to understand if patients taking semaglutide (a diabetes and weight-loss medication) have full stomachs even after fasting before surgery, which can be dangerous during anesthesia. Researchers will use a simple bedside ultrasound on 100 elective surgery patients to check stomach contents and develop better safety guidelines. The goal is to prevent breathing complications during surgery without unnecessarily canceling procedures.
