Diabetes drug put to the test: can it heal blood vessels from the inside?

NCT ID NCT04126603

Summary

This study aimed to understand how the approved diabetes medication semaglutide affects two specific types of cells in people with type 2 diabetes. Researchers tested whether the drug could improve the health and function of cells that repair blood vessels and cells found in fat tissue. Ten participants were given either semaglutide or a placebo for 24 weeks, and researchers analyzed blood and fat tissue samples to look for changes in these cells.
