Diabetes drug trial aims to curb drinking and smoking in HIV patients

NCT ID NCT07221214

Summary

This study is testing whether the medication semaglutide can help adults living with HIV drink less alcohol and smoke fewer cigarettes. Researchers want to see if reducing these habits also lowers the risk of heart disease in this population. About 200 participants will take either semaglutide or a placebo for three months while having regular checkups and providing samples for testing.
