Can a weekly shot keep your metabolism fired up while dieting?
NCT ID NCT06390501
Summary
This study tested if the medication semaglutide (a weekly injection) helps prevent the body from slowing down its calorie burn during weight loss. For 24 weeks, 60 adults with obesity followed a calorie-restricted diet and received either semaglutide or a placebo. Researchers measured changes in total energy expenditure, body weight, and metabolism to see if the drug helps maintain a higher metabolic rate while dieting.
