Double treatment for teen obesity: surgery plus drug shows promise

NCT ID NCT06934655

Summary

This study is testing if restarting a weekly weight-loss injection (semaglutide) just two weeks after a common stomach-reduction surgery helps teens with severe obesity. It will compare 150 teens who get the drug after surgery to those who get surgery alone over two years. The goal is to see if the combined approach is safe and leads to better weight loss, improved heart and metabolic health, and healthier eating habits.
