New drug cocktail targets deadliest blood cancers
NCT ID NCT07632170
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This trial investigates whether adding selinisole to standard chemotherapy drugs (azacitidine and venetoclax) can improve outcomes for people with newly diagnosed, high-risk myeloid tumors that have a TP53 mutation. These tumors are aggressive and hard to treat. The study will measure how many patients achieve remission and how long they live, while also tracking side effects. About 30 participants will receive the drug combination in cycles until their disease worsens or side effects become too severe.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
selinisole (also known as selinexor) combined with azacitidine and venetoclax
What this could lead to
If successful, this combination could offer a more effective treatment option for people with aggressive myeloid tumors that have a TP53 mutation, potentially improving survival.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study without a comparison group, so results may not be definitive. The drug combination can cause significant side effects, and not all patients may benefit.
