Mind over pain: hypnosis trial aims to cut opioid use after cancer surgery
NCT ID NCT04266886
Summary
This study is testing whether learning self-hypnosis before surgery helps patients with gynecologic cancers feel less pain and use fewer opioid painkillers during recovery. 152 participants are randomly assigned to receive either standard post-surgery care or standard care plus a guided self-hypnosis audio session. The main goal is to see if the relaxation technique makes a meaningful difference in patients' pain experience and medication needs.
