Summary

This trial tests whether a six-week self-guided psychological program can reduce symptoms of body dysmorphic disorder in adolescents aged 15 to 18. Participants with symptoms are split into two groups: one receives the program, the other does not. Researchers compare changes in body image, self-compassion, gratitude, mindfulness, and overall well-being before and after the program. The goal is to see if a self-directed approach can bring meaningful improvements without a therapist.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Self-guided psychological intervention for body dysmorphic disorder, delivered over 6 weeks
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a low-cost, accessible way to reduce body dysmorphia symptoms and improve well-being in adolescents.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early trial with 100 participants. The intervention is self-guided, so engagement may vary, and results may not generalize without professional support.
