Can a mineral boost help teens fight depression?
NCT ID NCT07203144
Summary
This study aims to see if adding a selenium supplement to standard depression medication (fluoxetine) helps reduce depression symptoms in teenagers aged 12-18. It will involve 172 participants who will be randomly assigned to receive either the supplement or a placebo (inactive pill) along with their medication. Researchers will measure changes in depression, anxiety, sleep, and quality of life over 8 weeks to understand if selenium is a helpful addition to treatment.
