Sitting linked to gut bugs and cancer risk?
NCT ID NCT07398820
First seen Feb 11, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study looked at how sitting time and physical activity affect how fast food moves through the gut, the types of bacteria living there, and the risk of developing colon polyps. Researchers tracked 80 adults aged 40-60 using activity monitors, blue muffins to measure gut transit time, and stool samples to analyze gut bacteria. The goal was to understand if a slower gut transit time from too much sitting leads to unhealthy gut bacteria that may promote polyp growth.
