Researchers watch brain waves to see if deep sedation slows recovery

NCT ID NCT07350109

Summary

This study aims to understand how deeply sedated patients are after heart surgery and whether that affects their recovery. Researchers will monitor brain activity in 50 patients for 48 hours after surgery, but the doctors won't see this data so it doesn't change care. The goal is to learn if deep sedation is linked to longer ventilator use, ICU stays, or complications like infections or confusion.
