Study tests if High-Tech sedation can save Seniors' memory after surgery

NCT ID NCT07311447

Summary

This study looked at whether a computer-controlled method for giving sedatives and pain medicine after major surgery is better than the standard manual method at protecting older patients' memory and thinking skills. Researchers compared the two methods in 50 patients aged 65 and older who had major surgery and were recovering in intensive care. They measured patients' mental sharpness before and after surgery to see which sedation approach led to better cognitive recovery.
