Safer sedation for surgery: study tests dosing for overweight patients
NCT ID NCT05760534
Summary
This study aimed to find the safest way to dose a sedative drug for overweight patients having knee or hip replacement surgery. Researchers compared dosing based on a patient's 'ideal' body weight versus their actual total body weight. The goal was to see which method better prevented breathing problems and other side effects during surgery while keeping patients comfortably sedated.
