Massive study reveals hidden cancer risk in rare gut tumors
NCT ID NCT07291752
First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study examined nearly 94,000 people diagnosed with a rare, slow-growing gut cancer called a carcinoid tumor. Researchers wanted to find out if these patients were more likely to develop a second, different cancer in the stomach or intestines later on. They used a large national cancer database to calculate the risk, comparing how many second cancers actually occurred versus what would be expected in the general population.
