Gut drug gets brain test: can it sharpen minds in schizophrenia?

NCT ID NCT06474286

Summary

This small, early-stage study is testing whether a drug normally used for constipation (prucalopride) can help improve thinking, memory, and problem-solving skills in people with schizophrenia. Thirty-four stable patients will take the drug for four weeks alongside their regular antipsychotic medication. Researchers will measure changes in their cognitive test scores and overall symptoms to see if the drug shows any promise.
