This study tests a type of talk therapy called schema therapy for people whose depression has lasted a long time or hasn't gotten better with medication. 129 participants will either get 30 sessions of schema therapy or standard psychotherapy. The goal is to see if schema therapy works better for easing depression symptoms and related problems.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- schema therapy (a type of psychotherapy)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could give people with long-lasting, hard-to-treat depression a new, more effective therapy option.
- What could go wrong
- This is a relatively small trial (129 people) and results may not apply to everyone. The therapy is time-intensive (30 sessions), and it may not work better than existing treatments.
