A whiff of calm: can scents stop Newborns' painful cries?
NCT ID NCT07350980
Summary
This study tested whether simple, pleasant scents could help reduce pain and crying in newborns during a common heel prick blood test. Researchers compared the effects of lavender oil, mandarin oil, and standard care on 120 healthy, full-term babies. They measured how long babies cried, their heart rates, and pain scores to see if these safe, scent-based methods could offer comfort.
