New care program aims to save mothers and babies with sickle cell disease

Summary

This study tests a team-based care program for pregnant women with sickle cell disease in Ghana. The goal is to lower death rates for mothers and their babies by using a special team of doctors and nurses, following guidelines to prevent complications, and monitoring fetal growth with ultrasound. About 500 women will take part across three hospitals.
