First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a program of specific shoulder exercises can improve muscle function and reduce pain in women who have had a mastectomy. Sixty women aged 35-55 with shoulder problems will be enrolled. The exercises focus on strengthening and stabilizing the shoulder blade muscles. Researchers will measure muscle activity and shoulder function before and after the program.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Proximal stabilization exercises (scapular mobilization and strengthening exercises)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a simple, drug-free exercise program to help women regain shoulder function and reduce pain after mastectomy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants. The exercises may not prove more effective than standard care, and results may not apply to all patients.
