Sauna sessions may ease heart failure symptoms and cut diuretic use

NCT ID NCT07468344

First seen Mar 29, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding sauna therapy to standard cardiac rehabilitation can reduce fluid buildup (congestion) in people with heart failure. About 46 adults with reduced heart function will be randomly assigned to either a standard rehab program or one that includes sauna sessions. Researchers will measure changes in a blood marker (NT-proBNP) and see if patients can safely lower their dose of water pills (diuretics). The goal is to ease symptoms like shortness of breath and swelling, and improve quality of life.
