Can weak muscles predict shoulder tear patterns?

NCT ID NCT07183774

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at whether sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss) is linked to the type and location of rotator cuff tears in the shoulder. Researchers will measure muscle strength, walking speed, and thigh muscle thickness in 104 adults aged 40 to 75 with rotator cuff syndrome. They will then compare shoulder MRI scans to see if sarcopenic patients have different tear patterns. The goal is to better understand risk factors for rotator cuff tears.
