Hidden muscle loss linked to worse lung disease outcomes

NCT ID NCT07178197

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looked at 60 people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a serious lung disease, to see how muscle loss (sarcopenia) impacts their quality of life and disease progression. Researchers measured muscle strength, walking speed, and lung function, and found that muscle loss may worsen outcomes. The goal was to better understand this connection, not to test a new treatment.
