Muscle loss in Crohn's: a safer way to measure?

NCT ID NCT07441447

First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 26, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at whether ultrasound can be used instead of CT scans to check for muscle loss (sarcopenia) in people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). CT scans are the current gold standard but involve radiation and are not always easy to get. The study will compare ultrasound measurements with CT results in 100 adults with IBD to see if ultrasound is a reliable and practical alternative.
