New study seeks safer way to spot muscle loss in IBD patients

NCT ID NCT07441447

First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looks at whether ultrasound can be used instead of CT scans to check for muscle loss (sarcopenia) in people with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. Researchers will compare ultrasound measurements with CT scans in 100 adults. If ultrasound works well, it could offer a safer, more accessible way to monitor muscle health in IBD patients.
