New combo attack on tough tumors aims to save limbs

NCT ID NCT05235100

Summary

This study tested a two-part treatment given before surgery for soft tissue sarcoma in the arms, legs, or trunk. Doctors combined a targeted cancer drug (apatinib) with precise, shaped radiation (IMRT) to try to shrink tumors more effectively. The main goals were to see if this approach was safe, reduced serious wound problems after surgery, and helped preserve patients' limb function and quality of life.
