Scientists test Radiation-Boosting drugs in fight against tough sarcomas

NCT ID NCT05116254

Summary

This study tested whether adding one or two new drugs (AZD1390 with or without durvalumab) to standard radiation before surgery could make treatment more effective for adults with newly diagnosed soft tissue sarcoma in the arms or legs. The main goal was to check if this combined approach was safe and tolerable, particularly around the time of surgery, and to find the right dose for future research. Researchers hoped the drugs would make cancer cells more sensitive to radiation and potentially help the immune system fight the tumor, aiming to reduce the chance of the cancer coming back after surgery.
